Sharyn Bajerai was born in Perth, Western Australia. After completing a secretarial course she went to work at a bank. She was on the phone the day it was robbed and luckily missed the action. She now works part time for a flag company and enjoys her days writing, travelling and hiking the many trails in Perth’s hills with her family and six grandsons. "Nelson Packrat" was originally published in The School Magazine (part of the NSW Curriculum and Learning Innovation Centre). It is now a part of Short Édition's series, The Current.
