Allison stood in line with the rest of her class, waiting for the school doors to open. Usually first thing in the morning was a quiet time, but today kids were talking happily—and loudly. This was the last day before school closed for Christmas break, and everyone was excited. Especially Allison. She couldn't wait for the Christmas party and secret gift swap happening in class today. Allison turned to say something to her best friend, Wendy, who was standing beside her, then froze.
